Backsplash Murals? Yes, A Mural Backsplash Can Be Awesome!

Backsplash murals are a fabulous way to get an artistic detail into your kitchen. These murals come in a wide variety of designs, shapes, and sizes. The space you have available is the only constraining factor in the placement of these great works of art.

A mural backsplash is painted on multiple tiles further increasing their complexity. Depending on the size of the mural desired will dictate the size of the tiles used. The most common tile size is 4 inches by 6 inches but any size tile can be used; it all depends on the artist, and the size desired.

Backsplash murals can be painted onto and ceramic tile. The tumbled marble will be more expensive but is really spectacular. Ceramic tile murals are less expensive but are really attractive when paired with a tiled backsplash.

Designs can also be formed into metals like copper, brass, and stainless steel. Stone can also have murals carved into them. Softer stones such as travertine and tumbled marble are used because they are easily shaped and carved. The stone murals can also be painted to highlight the carvings and bring a new dimension to the piece.

The most common placement for these murals is over the sink and range. These areas have the most space available, and can most prominently display the artwork.

A hand painted mural backsplash is the best way to get a unique design. Even if the same design is used more than once, the subtle differences between them will make them unique. This is what I like to call backsplash art.

Only a true artist can paint a mural on tiles. Machines are not capable of getting the designs just right. Every tile is different and machines just cannot take the imperfections in the tile into account when applying the glaze, or paint.

These mural backsplashes are most often seen with a country setting; such as birds, fruit, buildings, flowers, and landscapes. Like I said these are most common but there are literally thousands of designs out there. One is likely to spark an interest for your kitchen design.

For a truly unique design element for your kitchen using these murals are the best way to express your individuality and artistic flair. Just think when your friends and family come into you kitchen and see what you chose to spice up your kitchen. Amazing, is what you will hear.
