What Is Designer Track Lighting?

What truely makes a track light, designer track lighting? Well, most lighting design professionals consider a designer lighting system as one that is decorative and unusual. This doesn't mean that there is a specific design to the light by a specific designer, it simply means the track light design is not a standard design.

Let me explain, there are companies who have a different line of globes, or pendants, or spotlights that are made to stand out from their standard design elements. Confused? Don't be, it simply means that there are specially designed heads available for the ordinary track.

The tracks themselves are really nothing special in the designer lighting, in most cases, they simply use different fixtures while using an already manufactured track. The track is such a small area, so their design doesn't need to be different to make them work with the new designer fixtures.

Now that that's cleared up (I hope). Finding designer track lights is actually very simple, every company, like Juno, Erco, And Con-Tech, have designer lights to go with their track systems. If you already have a track light but want to spruce it up with a new design, you can. Most track lighting fixtures can easily be replaced with new ones. Simply check out your instruction booklet for what style head you need to purchase.

When trying to decide on which head style to purchase keep your kitchen design in mind. Installing a very contemporary styled track in a very traditional home probably won't look right. Try to stay with the design of your current kitchen.

If you plan to remodel in the near future, and keep your current lighting layout, then by all means choose a fixture that will fit into your new design. Just something to think about, but do what you like it's your house and don't be too constrained by your current style.

Designer track lighting is very popular and the ability to make any track lighting system a designer style is great. Simply find what heads will fit your track and you will be off the lighting races, and to a design you're happy with.
