Kitchen Layouts, Some Ideas To Get You Started.

Kitchen layouts are much more than deciding on what size cabinets to install. There are many factors that need to be taken in consideration.

Here are some guidelines to consider:

  • The style of your house. Yes, the style of your house will give you give you a good starting point as far as the design of your kitchen.
  • Appliances, appliances, so many choices. The desired appliances such as a double oven or a built in refrigerator will have dramatic design implications if not planned for properly.
  • The available space, obviously, right! You may not have the space for all of your wants or desires but the major gotta haves can fit into any kitchen.
  • The traffic and workflow through the kitchen. I there a door in your kitchen? Does it interfere with the traffic pattern? Is there enough room for seating at the island? All major considerations.
  • Storage and improvements to the storage capacity of the cabinets. Such as a recycling lazy Susan instead of the less capable food storage lazy Susan. As well as drop down shelves to improve the storage, especially over the cooktop or range and refrigerator.
  • Minimum space recommendations, how much do you really need? It may be more than you think. Are there two cooks in the kitchen? If so more space is needed, but how much?
  • Kids? Small children can play a big role in the material selection for the kitchen. Very expensive and easily stained stone countertops may not be a good choice in a kitchen where spills are a regular occurrence.

There are many things that need to be taken into consideration in the kitchen design. Hopefully some of my guidelines will help you get the best kitchen you can get.
