Refinishing A Cast Iron Kitchen Sink

Where can I get a deep, white, enameled kitchen sink re-enameled? It's down to the cast iron in one corner of the bowl. Thanks for your help.

S. Morrison

Thanks For Your Question,

The best place to find a business to refinish your sink is to check in your local phone book, or the Yellow Pages.

It would be far too costly to ship a heavy sink to get refinished. Unless of course, your sink is old and not easily replaced. Refinishing a cast iron sink is not as cost effective, in most cases, as getting a new one. Unless like I mentioned earlier, your sink is rare or you really like it and don't want to replace it.

If you have an antique farmhouse sink or similarly large old sink it would be advantageous and a good choice to have it refinished.

It's getting harder and harder to find anyone who refinishes cast iron sinks, as it's a dieing art and it's more economical in most cases to buy a new one.

You might want to try refinishing it yourself with an epoxy based refinishing kit. The finish will last for 5 years or more if no abrasive cleaners are used. Here is a link that will give you some insight on what's involved in refinishing a cast iron sink.

I hope this helps,
Toby
